Dal Makhani Preparation Time : 15 min Cooking Time : 30 min Ingredients Red Gram Dal-2cups, Oil, Water, Salt as required, Ghee, Tomato-1 big , Green chillies -5, Red chillies-5-7, Garlic-8 pods, , Onion -1 big, Ginger, Coriander leaves, Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp, Chilli Powder-1/4 tsp, a pinch of Garam masala powder, Mustard seeds Jeera for tampering. Bay leaf-1, Curry leaves 6, Pepper powder, a pinch of Asfoetida Method 1.First boil the dal in a non-stick pan with 4 cups of water, and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder until it is cooked & turns soft. 2.After the dal is cooked slice the tomatoes & add it to the dal .Simmer until the juice has been absorbed . 3.The dal becomes thick by that time. Add the salt & pepper powder & simmer again. 4.Meanwhile grind the ginger,garlic & green chillies into a paste. 5.After that shallow fry paste for about 2 min on low flame & add to the dal in simmer. 6.Chop the onions & fry them till they turn brown and add to dal. 7 Heat oil. Add the mustard seeds ,jeera ,curry leaves, red chilli & bay leaf with a pinch of asfoetida & garan masala powder. Add to the dal . 8.sprinkle some coriander on top
.Serve hot with chappatis or rice
